Introduction

Up from January 2016 all new registered & certified associate maritime brokers have the obligation to appoint a personal mentor. Up from January 2017 this obligation also applies for new registered & certified yachtsurveyors. All mentors are full EMCI registered & certified maritime brokers / yachtsurveyors or have equal qualifications, such to the discretion of EMCI Register. The purpose of mentoring is to guide and to empower the associate EMCI practitioners. If the associate EMCI practitioner has questions, faces difficulties or request help, the mentor, as experienced senior, can assist. The mentor also prepares the associate EMCI practitioner for the skillstest. The mentor and the associate EMCI practitioner must agree on a basic mentoring agreement. EMCI provides the instruction template for the mentoring period. EMCI Register monitors the mentoring procedures / processes.
